Labour play the politics of division in Uxbridge

It is no secret that Labour are agitating to get a General Election sooner rather than later, using BREXIT amongst other issues to drive their political agenda rather than actually having anything positive to contribute to a vital time in our country’s history.

To this end, they are selecting candidates to stand up and down the country already with the hope that by sabotaging our country’s future they can take control in Westminster and push the hard left agenda of Corbyn and McDonnell in to Downing Street.

A few weeks ago in Uxbridge, Ali Milani was selected to stand against the Conservative encumbent, Boris Johnson,(left) in what will be a hotly contested constituency if the boundary changes that are proposed become reality. Currently sitting on a majority of five and a half thousand, projections show a majority as thin as 500 if those changes come in to place, with Boris losing four solid Conservative wards , gaining two (Including the small ward of Harefield) but decisively also gaining two solid Labour wards that are in the London Borough of Ealing to create the new ‘Uxbridge & Hillingdon’ constituency.

Since his selection, Milani has had a lot to say – below is his latest piece from ‘Labour list’ with my comments in italics under his musings –

 

The world today is a very different place to what most of us may have expected just a few years ago. The rise of populism, Brexit and politicians such as Donald Trump means we all live in a distinctly different political and social environment. A little over two weeks ago, I was selected by Labour Party members as the candidate to take on the man who has anointed himself leader of this new right-wing, populist political trend here in the UK – Boris Johnson.

The Chennai 6 – an update

I recently wrote on this blog about the British ex-servicemen currently held on trumped up charges in an Indian gaol.

Further to an email to Foreign Secretary and Uxbridge MP Boris Johnson, I recently received the following reply to my enquiry about what the British government is doing to secure their release…

 

Dear Mr Dixon

Thanks you for your email of 6 October about the six former soldiers currently detained in India.

While we are unable to interfere in another country’s legal processes, I can reassure you that since the men’s detention we have regularly made clear to the Indian authorities our interest in this case. Each time we raise this case, we stress the importance of seeing progress and make clear the enormous strain and financial difficulty the ongoing separation is causing the men and their families.

The Prime Minister last raised the case with Indian Prime Minister Modi when they met in July at the G20 in Hamburg. I raised the case with the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, in August and the the Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Rt Hon Mark Field MP, raised the case with the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr J Akbar, when he visited India in October. He also visited the men in detention and subsequently met with families in London on the fourth anniversary of the men’s arrest on 12 October.

The Data Protection Act of 1998 prevents me from discussing the details of the consular assistance we are providing to any British national without their express permission, but I can assure you that while the case continues and the men remain in detention, consular officials continue to support them, focusing on the men’s welfare.

They take account of their individual needs and have secured significant improvements in their detention conditions.

The truth about Hillingdon Council’s ‘Financial Prudence’

Our national debt recently exceeded the £1.5 trillion mark – We spend more money in interest payments on the debt annually than we do on defence. Locally, our Conservative Council constantly tell you about their outstanding financial record in much the same way as their national party do at Westminster. ‘Council tax frozen’ is one of their favourite cries, neglecting to mention that Hillingdon levies one of the highest council tax bills in London already.

Their ‘financial prudence’ claims are further tested by the write off of £2.5 million of your money in 2011 in a failed Icelandic Bank, with millions still owing from Landsbanki and Heritable.

 

A free country put to the test

As seen in my previous piece, London Mayor and Uxbridge MP Boris Johnson has stated that it would be difficult to ban the flying of the Islamic State flag as this is a ‘free country’. (Despite ignoring the clear breaches of the anti-terror and public order acts that it entails).

Tomorrow sees the annual Al Quds day parade in London, where the flag of the proscribed terrorist group Hizbollah (Pictured above, which came in to my possession at last year’s event) will be flown on the streets in breach of the same laws and no doubt with no response from the Police.

To see if Boris is prepared to be true to his word, I will be peacefully counter protesting as I do each year – Anti-Semitism, homophobia, misogyny and racism have no place on the streets of our capital city. I will be carrying with me the St George Flag as also displayed in the picture – Let’s see if The Metropolitan Police show me the same consideration that they showed to the IS supporter at Westminster. I somehow doubt it.

 

An open letter to Boris Johnson re ISIS

After Boris Johnson’s LBC radio show, I have just emailed the following message to him

Dear Boris

As a constituent of yours, I was alarmed to hear your comments regarding the flying of an ISIS flag in London on LBC radio today, as confirmed in the following tract from The Independent

The Isis flag should not be banned by law because Britain is a “free country”, Boris Johnson has said.

The Mayor of London said he did not want to see the flag of the so-called Islamic State flying anywhere but said that banning it in law could prove unworkable.

“I don’t like people carrying the ISIS flag … I think a balance has got to be struck,” he told LBC radio.

May I draw to your attention the following passage from The 2003 Terrorism Act

Proscription makes it a criminal offence to:

• wear clothing or carry or display articles in public in such a way or in such circumstances as arouse reasonable suspicion that an individual is a member or supporter of the proscribed organisation (section 13).

The penalties for proscription offences under sections 11 and 12 are a maximum of 10 years in prison and/or a fine. The maximum penalty for a section 13 offence is 6 months in prison and/or a fine not exceeding £5,000.

A fair EU Referendum?

I sent the following yesterday to local media outlets and my MP

On Friday 5th June it will be 40 years since the British people had a vote on our membership of the European Union. Now we are promised another referendum by David Cameron. But will it be fair?

Already there is talk that the EU Referendum Bill may be amended to allow about 1.5 million non-British citizens a vote on the future of our nation on the grounds that they are EU citizens who live here. Of course, if EU nationals who have come to the UK have taken the trouble to gain British citizenship then they deserve to have a vote. If they have lived in the UK for donkey’s years but kept their Italian or Spanish citizenship then they do not.

There is also the suggestion that the vote would exclude military personnel and many other British people temporarily overseas.

It is also a concern that the Bill makes no provision for a “purdah” period to stop the government unfairly interfering in the Referendum campaign.

None of these things would be fair. Worse, they would be dangerous. It these ideas are adopted they will call into question the legitimacy of the referendum.

If David Cameron, his ministers, or the Lords take us down the road of giving EU nationals a vote in the EU referendum it tells us the vote will be a sham and they have no confidence they can win it – without gerrymandering the result.

Is Hillingdon council leader Ray Puddifoot calling Boris Johnson a liar?

In The Gazette dated 25^th March, Ray Puddifoot (Left) responded to UKIP criticisms of council spending on self-promotion by stating that “Hillingdon Council is not responsible for Police budgets” and accused our Parliamentary candidate for Uxbridge & South Ruislip, Jack Duffin, of having a ‘Lack of understanding’

Freedom of Information requests by Mr Duffin had revealed that Hillingdon Council had spent £8435.54 for on line advertising in financial year 2013/14 to add to the nearly £100,000 spent on their promotional magazine ‘Hillingdon People’ in the same period.

UKIP policy in Hillingdon is to scrap the magazine and redirect that money to front line services including Policing.

In reply to Mr Puddifoot’s statement, Jack Duffin said, “ If the council is not responsible for Police budgets, then why did Boris Johnson state in his 2012 Mayoral campaign that for every extra police officer funded by a local authority he would match that in a ‘buy one, get one free’ offer from the Greater London Authority (GLA)?

Indeed, Boris stated in the document ‘Fighting Crime in London’ that twelve London Boroughs, including neighbouring Harrow, had taken him up on the offer.

If this is the case, then either Ray Puddifoot has a ‘lack of understanding’ of what is available to him concerning policing in Hillingdon or he is calling Boris Johnson a liar.”

Boris selected for Uxbridge Parliamentary Seat

Sent to me by one of our UKIP Hillingdon members – Was this the speech that Boris gave after his successful nomination for the Uxbridge & South Ruislip Parliamentary seat?

What Ho! residents of Oxbridge (And that other place tacked onto the side of it, what’s it called? You know – lots of bungalows). I may pop in from time to time but I can’t say when because this ‘being Mayor’ business can be a piddly bit time-consuming. So I’ll get along whenever – I know you’re at the far end of the blue line on the tube map.

I can’t tell you too much about my little caper at this stage, but I need to be sure of a nice safe Tory seat which will guarantee whizzing me into Westminster.

 

Now I know that some of you are unhappy about a brand new railway line we’re going to put right through the middle of your area and you can read all about my thoughts on the matter in the 13^th September Daily Telegraph under the headline ‘HS2 opponents are Nimbys who only care about house prices’.

So please give us a wave as we rocket over your vans and trucks sitting on the M25. I’m told it’s always stationery on the western stretch – Don’t know, never have to use the blasted thing!

So – like I said – pop out at the next election and vote Conservative just like your parents did and taught you to do likewise.

And don’t be paying any attention to those UKIP Johnnies who may live in the borough and may care about it as well, but with the help of the press and the BBC, we’ll convince everybody that voting for them will get you Labour. That always works.

 

So run along, and at the next election – Just do what you’ve always done & don’t give it a second thought.

A Message to Boris

The following press release was put out yesterday by UKIP about the rumours surrounding Boris Johnson standing as MP for Uxbridge & South Ruislip

 

If Boris Johnson announces his attention to stand in Uxbridge, he’d better beware. That’s the message from UKIP upstart, the red-headed Jack Duffin (Above), who is licking his lips at the challenge. Viewing Boris as fundamentally out of touch with the ‘real people’ of the constituency, the Chairman of UKIP’s youth wing is ready to rise to the bait. He is relishing what he hopes will be the opportunity to expose the Tory Bigwig as ‘more suitable for the Bullingdon club than Parliament’

 

“I came to Hillingdon originally just to study at the University but have now settled into the area and feel an intrinsic connection to it, which is more than Boris can claim. Having just finished eight years working in hospitality this summer, I’ve had an upbringing that has prepared me well to represent the local hard-working people of the constituency. Compare this to the epitome of an out of touch Tory Toff, used to private members clubs, private education and a very colourful private life, and it’s soon clear that Boris should be sent back to the Bullingdon Club, rather than to Parliament.

 

“If I sit back and wait for the Labour and Tory Governments of the next 20 years to continue ruining this country there will be nothing left to fight for. My generation has little or no hope of ever getting on the housing ladder, employment opportunities have diminished and Boris has the audacity to blame young people for their lack of energy.

 

“Boris’ vision for the local area is one of unemployment and poverty. He has nothing in common with the local community and isn’t interested in anything other than his own career progression.

 

“If he gets elected he will be too busy in his role as London Mayor for the first year, which will mean his constituents, after voting him in, will be rewarded by being ignored. After that he will be swanning off to battle Cameron for the leadership. His eyes are on Downing Street not Uxbridge. The residents will be used in the short term for his own gain, only to be cast aside once they’ve served their purpose.

 

“He is actively trying to shut Heathrow, the biggest employer in the area. Replacing it with more housing and fewer jobs, meaning he can pursue his ego trip of building Boris Island. What an absolute idiot. UKIP is the only party that has promised not to build a third runway leading to mass disruption in the local area, but at the same time we know how important it is to keep the UK’s busiest airport open, which is the lynch pin of the local community in terms of direct and indirect employment.

 

“The whole borough is united in trying to stop the white elephant that is HS2, yet Boris has labelled everyone who is against it a NIMBY. I wonder whether he will be buying a house under the flight path to show solidarity with the patch?

 

“He is also the most pro-immigration of any leading figure in the Conservative Party, and has time again argued for an amnesty for illegal immigrants. Our borders are not safe under a Tory Government and certainly not under one led by Boris Johnson.

“The press have become obsessed with comparing Boris to Nigel,  focusing on personalities rather than politics. But the difference is people voting UKIP know what they are voting for. People backing Nigel always know exactly what he stands for. Our policy pledges are clear, our message is simple and it’s winning people over. Boris plays with smoke and mirrors to cover up his personal ambition as much as possible but it’s so evident that his motivation is focused solely on what’s best for Boris and nothing else. At the end of the day he’s a typical PR savvy, image-conscious, out-of-touch soft Tory who cares more about self-preservation than anything else. He’s no different from all the other like-minded politicians in Westminster, but the public are sensing there’s something new on the market, and that’s the UKIP brand.

 

“I can’t help but be excited to take him on. He’s exactly the sort of phoney conman I want to keep out of the House of Commons, which is what drove me to want to get into politics in the first place.”

UKIP Press Release – Rumours surrounding Uxbridge & South Ruislip Constituency

Reports in this week’s papers claim Boris Johnson is considering standing in Uxbridge and South Ruislip in May 2015, after John Randall announced he would be standing down at the next General Election. It would be an unusual decision for Boris to contest the constituency as he is someone who has nothing in common with local people, no links to the area and has insulted many of the population here in the past few years.

Boris is fully behind plans to close Heathrow putting hundreds of thousands of jobs directly and indirectly linked to Heathrow in danger (1)

 

It is based purely on his desire to have his ‘Boris Island’ vanity project driven through rather than delivering economic growth and listening to local concerns. We saw his plans fall apart under investigation this week, (2) costing four times his predicted outlay.

 

UKIP is the only major political party that supports a more efficient two runway Heathrow whilst rejecting either expansion or closure.

 

He is in favour of an amnesty for all illegal immigrants in the UK (3) despite local Conservative Council leader Ray Puddifoot already telling local residents that they are struggling to deliver the required amount of school places due to the current levels of immigration (4). With totally open borders to all citizens of the EU and a free pass for all illegal immigrants, the UK would completely lose control of its borders worldwide.

Only UKIP proposes and can deliver an Australian style points system for sensible levels of managed immigration.

 

Boris Johnson has labelled people who oppose HS2 as “Nimbys who only care about house prices”(5). Although John Randall voted for the HS2 paving bill, allowing public money to be allocated to its construction, Boris is a far bigger supporter of the project. Yet again only UKIP are supporting local residents across the country in opposing HS2 on a national level.

UKIP PPC for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Jack Duffin (left) says, “Boris has shown time and time again by his words and actions that he has nothing but contempt for the residents of Uxbridge and South Ruislip. A vote for Boris is a vote for destroying Heathrow, creating a further rise in unemployment, continued uncontrolled immigration and the building of HS2. Likewise, Labour have also offered no solutions to any of these problems. I hope I get to face Boris in what will become a two horse race between an out of touch career politician and UKIP’s Common Sense Policies for both our area and our country.”
